Microneedling
FEBRUARY 28TH, 2023
You present your skin daily to the world as a canvas. Being unsatisfied with this canvas due to texture, quality and defects can greatly affect your confidence. Fortunately, it is possible to improve this quality in order to put forth your best look. A safe procedure called microneedling is a mainstay for keeping the texture and quality of skin at optimal health.
Microneedling, also known as collagen induction therapy, is used to promote more collagen and elastin production. This leads to improved skin quality that is more supple, smooth, and younger appearing.
Microneedling in a nutshell
This procedure is safe and effective in producing collagen and elastin which diminishes as the skin ages. It is used to treat stretch marks, fine lines, and scars from wounds and/or acne. We use an advanced electrical skin-needling device composed of a set of 12 micro-needles to puncture the epidermis & dermis of the skin. This is used to create micro-injury that stimulates the production of healthy new skin through collagen production and increased circulation.
Throughout this process, tiny channels are created that also allow our Estheticians to improve the absorption of serums, boosters, peptides, and PRP. This dramatically improves the overall health of the new skin that is developed.
What skin type can receive microneedling?
This procedure is safe for people in good health and all skin types. It is also used for delicate areas of skin around the eyes and the decollete of the neck.
Where can microneedling be used?
This procedure can be used to reduce scarring and improve skin quality on any area that has skin. It can also be used on the scalp to regenerate hair growth, especially when done with the addition of platelet-rich plasma (PRP).
Is microneedling painful?
Most people choose to have a topical numbing agent applied prior to the procedure. However, if this is not used many say it feels like a tickling sensation or a minor poking. Those people that are very sensitive say it resembles sandpaper rubbing across the skin. In all cases, it is not seen as a painful experience and is tolerated very well.
What are the number of treatments needed?
Microneedling can be done every 2-4 weeks until the desired result is achieved. Each person responds to treatment differently so the number of needed treatments can vary. Most people achieve their ideal results within 3 to 6 treatments spaced around 4 weeks apart. Deeper acne scarring or wrinkles may require more treatments.
